For the past four years, Kathy has been the City of Indianapolis program manager for their municipal separate storm sewer system (MS4) National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permit. In practice, that means she brings the various people, departments, and City agencies together to improve MS4 NPDES compliance through ongoing projects, maintenance, and design tasks.
She’s also a work group member for the National Stormwater Testing and Evaluation for Products and Practices (STEPP) initiative. There, her goal is to develop a national standard and to remove barriers in the way of innovative storm water quality products and techniques. By getting those new applications to market, STEPP can improve nationwide stormwater system quality.
Outside of work, you might find Kathy in her garden. Inspired by her dad—who grew giant, 6-pound onions—Kathy loves to grow her own food and share it with her neighbors.
