Qutaiba is a chartered structural engineer specializing in bridge design, bridge asset management, and structural engineering design. As a finite element analyst, he undertakes seismic assessments and develops cost-effective solutions to reduce seismic risks to heritage and public buildings and bridges. Qutaiba also provides technical leadership, peer review, technical advice, and contract construction management. He’s known for his pragmatic approach—balancing these structural engineering challenges with solutions that deliver value for money while managing risk.
Having managed Clutha District Council’s bridge assets for two decades, Qutaiba has implemented initiatives to drive continuous improvement and efficiency. By assessing and logging the remaining useful life of all the district’s assets, his database is key to effectively monitoring aging bridge assets. This gives local councils longer lead times to proactively plan bridge maintenance and make budgetary provisions. Along with creating technical solutions, Qutaiba enjoys the challenge of leading multidisciplinary teams on a variety of projects.
After work, Qutaiba enjoys spending time with friends and family and playing table tennis.
