A professional marine biologist, Andrea has 20 years of experience practicing marine ecology and environmental science. She’s conducted baseline marine research, led permitting for offshore wind and oil and gas projects, and managed recovery planning and monitoring for endangered species. She also has a truly geekish love of good grammar.
Andrea’s current work is mostly focused around developing environmental impact assessments, offshore wind construction and operation plans, and protected species monitoring programs, with an emphasis on mitigating potential effects of industrial activities on marine wildlife. She’s our U.S. national marine mammal and sea turtle subject matter expert, and she’s recently served as the marine lead and technical quality director on several large-scale Atlantic, Pacific, and Arctic Ocean projects.
Although Andrea’s spent more than 220 days at sea on marine research and monitoring surveys, these days she’s more often found at home with her husband and two young children, busy planning their next family adventure. Over the last decade they’ve traveled to the Galapagos, Kenya, Mexico, Canada, Croatia, Italy, France, Germany, and multiple trips throughout Hawaii to snorkel with the fishies.
