Photo of Michael

Michael believes that getting out of the office and spending time in the field with his team doing lab work, pilot testing, or full-scale operations helps to build a solid engineering practice. Getting to know any facility he works with by talking to the people who know it best—its operators—is key. He believes that a fundamental understanding of plant hydraulics and how processes work, rather than simply applying typical guidelines or delegating design to equipment vendors, is foundational to good work.

Experienced with conventional and advanced treatment process engineering for water, wastewater, water reuse, site remediation, and waste management projects, Michael’s worked on numerous granular media filtration projects and groundbreaking potable reuse projects. As a Stantec Institute water researcher, he uses bench-, pilot-, demo-, and full-scale testing to investigate new treatments.

When he’s not collaborating with his team on water projects, Michael volunteers for organizations in his community: soup kitchens, and health centers, and a local Odyssey of the Mind program for kids. He loves cooking with his wife and going for walks.
