Central to Mike’s design philosophy is a belief in first understanding the driving processes causing the problem prior to engaging in any restorative actions. He works across the United States and is experienced in virtually all facets of stream restoration design projects, including project visualization, scoping, field assessment, data analysis, conceptualization, and alternatives analysis. Mike also works extensively with design computations, sediment transport, plan development, specifications, permitting, construction observation/oversight, and monitoring.

Mike firmly believes stream restoration is fundamentally an interdisciplinary field—he works closely with biologists, ecologists, arborists, geologists, fluvial geomorphologists, permitting specialists and others to achieve project goals and objectives.
