Stantec, a global integrated design firm, has announced the appointment of Kurt Karnatz to commercial sector leader and Jim Sauvageau to oversee the newly created mission critical facilities sector.
As Stantec’s commercial sector leader, Kurt Karnatz will oversee Stantec’s work on residential, retail, hospitality, and mixed-use projects. Throughout his career, Karnatz has been responsible for building and nurturing client relationships, leading project teams, and ensuring the resiliency and innovation of designs. He previously served 35 years as president of Environmental Systems Design (ESD), a firm recently acquired by Stantec. In his new role, Karnatz will translate his collaborative approach and record of accomplishments earning the trust of corporate real estate clients to reinforce the firm’s subject matter expertise, commitment to sustainable buildings, and demonstrated innovation in the commercial sector.
Jim Sauvageau has been named mission critical facilities sector leader, a newly created role that recognizes the expanded depth of mission-critical and data center design expertise Stantec gained with the recent integration of ESD. With more than 20 years of industry experience, Sauvageau offers deep knowledge and experience with mission-critical clients spanning the financial, pharmaceutical, corporate, and industrial markets. He will identify and connect the firm’s capabilities and resources to clients’ strategic goals.
“Kurt and Jim bring demonstrated experience leading projects and initiatives that enhance our capabilities as the leading integrated design practice and generate value throughout the firm. In their new roles, these talented leaders will continue to grow key sectors for our global Buildings practice, pushing forward our collective goals,” said Stephen Phillips, senior vice president for Buildings at Stantec.
