Stantec wins two 2026 Ontario Engineering Project Awards

May 14, 2026

Two Stantec projects have earned Awards of Distinction at the 2026 Ontario Engineering Project Awards, hosted by ACEC-Ontario. The awards recognize impactful and innovative projects from ACEC-Ontario member firms.

The Kenilworth Watermain Trunk Rehabilitation project for the City of Hamilton repaired a 64-year-old watermain, a critical part of the city’s drinking water system. The project team helped keep water flowing to 350,000 residents while strengthening the aging infrastructure. Working in a narrow underground tunnel with limited access and tight construction windows, the team used trenchless methods to repair the pipe rather than replace it. This approach reduced disruption, extended the life of the watermain, and protected public health and the environment.

The Glen Road Pedestrian Bridge and Tunnel project for the City of Toronto increased the bridge’s structural capacity while respecting its heritage character—and iconic appearance as a rare example of a steel rigid frame bridge in the city. The project also improved safety, accessibility, and visibility through widened pathways, upgraded lighting, and a more open tunnel design. These improvements make it easier and safer for people of all ages and abilities to move through this important connection between neighborhoods.
