Helping state and local governments turn data into action: Stantec earns Esri designation

March 13, 2026

Speciality designation highlights Stantec’s commitment to GIS work that improves public services and supports resilient communities

When communities need better data to plan infrastructure, manage assets, or prepare for climate risks, geospatial technology plays a critical role. Recognizing Stantec’s ability to help governments turn complex spatial data into actionable insights, Esri, a global leader in geographic information systems (GIS), has awarded the firm its State & Local Government Specialty designation. This designation acknowledges Stantec’s experience delivering GIS and geospatial solutions that enable state and local governments to make informed decisions, enhance service delivery, and strengthen community resilience.

From asset management and infrastructure planning to climate resilience, emergency management, and community engagement, Stantec’s interdisciplinary teams use Esri technologies to help public sector clients solve some of their most difficult challenges. In Denver, Stantec recently worked with the Department of Transportation and Infrastructure to digitize the city’s storm drainage master plan using ArcGIS Hub.  In Tulsa, the firm’s archaeologists used remote sensing and 3D mapping to investigate a 1921 massacre.

The designation also acknowledges the firm’s commitment to ongoing training, certification, and excellence in GIS—helping clients benefit from a high level of technical proficiency and support. Stantec is an Esri Gold Business Partner and previously earned the Utility Network Management Specialty designation.
