Canada’s Department of National Defence taps Stantec for multidisciplinary services

January 29, 2026

Architecture and engineering source list contract dedicated to modernizing facilities across the country

Defence Construction Canada, on behalf of the Canadian Department of National Defence (DND), has selected Stantec as one of six qualified consultants for a three-year, C$180 million source list to deliver facility upgrades for the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF). The contract carries the possibility of an extension to six years and up to $270 million, split among the six consultants. Facility upgrades are a critical part of the federal government’s push to support the CAF and will contribute to staff recruitment and retention. The federal government has committed to growing defence spending to 5 percent of GDP by 2035.

Stantec’s scope will include architecture, structural engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, civil engineering, energy management, and sustainable design.

“By improving DND infrastructure, we are improving the accommodations and training facilities for our enlisted Canadians,” said Rob Dumaresq, Canada Federal market lead, Stantec. “Doing right by our servicemen and women is an exciting role for us, and we are happy to support the Federal Government in this key national priority.”

Stantec has been a longstanding partner to the DND, with a presence on the national source list. Learn more about Stantec’s work for the Government of Canada
