The energy transition is driving demand for critical minerals and metals around the world. From lithium and cobalt to graphite and rare earth elements, these precious resources are needed to produce the renewable energy technologies of the future.
Electric vehicles require copper, manganese, nickel, lithium, cobalt, graphite, and more. Solar panels are produced using copper, zinc, and silicon. Wind turbines need copper, manganese, nickel, chromium, zinc, and rare earth elements. And the list goes on, from our electrical infrastructure to batteries. We must source these critical minerals and metals if we hope to achieve net zero. But we must do so responsibly.
Our teams at Stantec are uniquely positioned to support mining projects through the entire lifecycle. From exploration and permitting through to mine closure and asset transformation, our integrated mining teams can support our clients from before a project starts until long after it’s finished.
Learn more from Stantec’s Cody Ryckman and Jason Doupe as they discuss critical minerals and how we can mine for these precious resources responsibly.
