Stantec’s partnerships with Feeding America and Food Banks Canada to fight hunger

February 11, 2025

Strengthening communities through compassion, collaboration, and action

At Stantec, our commitment to community transcends borders, reaching into the heart of the communities we serve across North America. In 2025, we're proud to launch our impactful partnerships with both Feeding America and Food Banks Canada, reinforcing our shared mission to end hunger and build stronger, healthier communities.

Through our $150,000 partnership, Stantec is supporting over 100 of Feeding America’s partner food banks across the United States. This funding helps make sure that nutritious food reaches families in need, from bustling urban centers to remote rural areas. Reflecting on 2024, Feeding America provided access to 5.9 billion meals, rescued 4.1 billion pounds of food, and engaged nearly 900,000 advocates in the fight against hunger—a testament to the power of community collaboration.

In Canada, our partnership with Food Banks Canada is equally vital. We support programs like Northern Food Insecurity, helping to address the disproportionate levels of food insecurity in northern and remote communities, particularly among Indigenous populations. Across Canada, the food insecurity rate stands at 12.7%, but in Nunavut, it soars to 57%—over four times the national average. In the Northwest Territories, 21.7% of households face food insecurity, while in the Yukon, the rate is 17%. Our contributions help fund sustainable initiatives, support Indigenous-led projects, and foster food sovereignty.

Additionally, through the Food Bank’s After the Bell program, we will help provide over 215,000 nutritious, child-friendly food packs to children across over 235 communities in Canada during the summer months when school-based meal programs are unavailable—allowing them to enjoy their time without worrying about their next meal. Through this program, Stantec volunteers will participate in a packing event which is a chance to come together and make an impact by assembling nutritious food packs for kids who need it most during summer months when school food programs are closed.

As we look to the future, Stantec remains dedicated to making a meaningful impact through more than just funds but also our volunteer time with Stantec in the Community Week and our Dollars for Doers donations submitted throughout the year. Our collaborations with Feeding America and Food Banks Canada are more than just donations—they are testaments to the power of partnership, the importance of community, and the belief that together, we can help end hunger in North America.
