Using data and smart strategies sets the foundation for resilient and efficient operations
As Collingwood experiences rapid densification and change, our client, Molonglo, wanted to challenge normalised typologies for mid-rise buildings and the people and places that occupy them. Through its meandering approach to height, Walk Up Village aims to embed new ways of encouraging permeability and discovery, both on the ground and across levels, supporting an interconnected web of uses that includes workspaces, retail and social and cultural tenancies.
Embracing a smart-buildings-led approach, we set out to define the connectivity, data exchange, and aggregation strategies needed to establish a data-driven property management solution. We also completed a range of investigations, assessments, workshops, and reports to support the design of a unified building data strategy, a masterplan, a building technologies integration, an integrated communication network specification, and an integrated services platform specification to be implemented by a master system integrator.
As the Walk-Up Village project was aiming to achieve a LEED gold rating and gold WiredScore certifications, we optimized strategies during the planning and construction phases to minimise future retrofit costs, which helps enhance the property’s appeal and attract tenants. And the result? A design that supports the existing creative and artistic communities alongside a quality hospitality offering—creating a sustainable and enriching cultural experience for the wider community
