Many hands make light work in a robust document system

BHP, the largest mining company in the world, has a very complex document management system (DMS) containing millions of documents for each of the industries it supports. When BHP needed to audit all their technical studies, reports, and calculations for bridges and drainage structures pertaining to their rail operations through the region of Pilbara, in Western Australia, they brought us in to run the project. Our team of mining engineers and asset managers were tasked with this considerably large undertaking—assessing over 1.7 million documents.

To make this task as efficient as possible, we organized several project team members to search through the DMS in a coordinated manner. We worked closely with the client’s admin team to assist with the downloading and took an “all hands-on deck” team approach.

The result? We delivered an audit on all parts of BHP’s railway network for Yandi1, Yandi2, MAC, and the Goldsworthy Mainline. With this audit completed, BHP could more clearly convey the state and operations of their railway assets in the Pilbara region.
