Designing a stand-out hub for sport, recreation, and tourism

The Queenscliff Sport and Recreation Precinct is a camping, sport, and community facility that provides recreational opportunities for the residents of Queenscliff, campers, and tourists alike. Our job? To refurbish the netball courts and main carpark area, upgrade the lighting, and consolidate the electrical supply to the site. We provided civil services infrastructure design, power reticulation, and lighting design.

One major challenge was aligning the electrical supply with Authority Services Installation Requirements. We split the power infrastructure between a consolidated source for caravans and a separated source for the kiosk, park, and manager’s office, creating separate metering and complying with regulatory requirements. On the infrastructure side, we added more than 90 new car parking spaces with accompanying roadway, kerbing, and footpaths. A redevelopment for the camping area was explored but not pursued at this time.

With the site’s new amenities and upgrades to its electrical and lighting, Queenscliffe sport players have more flexibility in what they can play and when they can play it, and with the additional parking and camping support, tourists to the region have a more convenient place to stop in. By focusing on these features, the Queenscliffe Sport and Recreation Precinct is supporting healthy lifestyles and overall wellbeing in their community.
