How to keep the golf course green and use less potable water? We have the game plan
Sustainability is the watchword for any new residential development project. So, our team applied a holistic approach to water lifecycle management for the Minnippi Development, Cannon Hill, located east of Brisbane, Queensland. With a goal of reducing the use of potable water, we looked for ways to maximise the use of stormwater, including for use on the community’s golf course.
This project required a complex stormwater harvesting system design for irrigation of the golf course, with the dual intention of improving local waterway health, managing salinity in the downstream waterways, and providing for beneficial groundwater replenishment by enhancing natural landscapes and managing the flow of water over the landscape.
With the effects climate change becoming more apparent, it is imperative that we seek ever better ways to reduce our impact on resources like water. Providing an innovative approach to water lifecycle management can satisfy the thirst for popular recreation like golf, while also respecting the environment and reducing our impact on resources.
