Calderwood Valley Urban Development
In the heart of the Illawarra escarpment, Calderwood Valley is a masterplanned community that will ultimately provide homes for over 12,000 residents in 4,800 residences. Working closely with the developer, Lendlease, we delivered environmentally sensitive concepts and detailed engineering designs for the development of the community.
Our approach included the development of a water cycle management study, a water-sensitive urban design strategy, and a floodplain risk management study for the nearby Macquarie Rivulet and Marshall Mount Creek. We provided a geomorphology assessment, utility infrastructure services, transport management and access plan, and land survey for the project. Additionally, we provided GIS support, town and environmental planning, and project management of the sub-consultant team. A highlight of the project was the use of aerial surveys and photogrammetry to create real-time surface models of the site. These surveys were compared to the planned surface model for the site, indicating where more, or less, landfill was required to achieve the ideal surface.
Currently, the first stage of Calderwood Valley is complete with 400 lots delivered as well as road infrastructure with a bridge and a major road intersection. Construction of the next two stages is underway and will deliver 1,500 lots.
