Creating a residential community in bushland
Bayswood, is a masterplanned residential community nestled in the natural bushland of southeast New South Wales, close by Jervis Bay National Park. We were engaged by the developers to provide civil and traffic engineering services for the development.
Given the drought sensitive bushland setting, key design parameters for the project included the integration of Water Sensitive Urban Design (WSUD) within surrounding parklands, an extensive urban drainage design network, and sewer and water reticulation. WSUD is a civil engineering design technique that integrates the urban water cycle, including stormwater, groundwater, and wastewater management to reduce impacts. As well as design services, we provided project management input including liaising with regulatory authorities, government agencies, and contractors to ensure the project was delivered meeting the client’s expectations.
The challenge for the project was creating designs that were sympathetic to the needs of the environment. With an eye towards sustainability in every aspect of our work, Bayswood allows residents to enjoy and appreciate their bushland home while respecting the land.
