Helping to prepare communities when flooding hits, Jess draws on his 15 years of experience in flood and emergency management planning. He’s worked closely with all levels of government across Australia to build capability and improve resilience to flooding.
Over the course of his career, Jess has delivered weather impact briefings, interviews, and presentations to all levels of government and emergency services as well to media and at live press conferences. He’s passionate about shaping safer communities through planning, engagement, and research on best practices in flood management and responding to natural disasters. A natural communicator, Jess provides support and guidance to stakeholders on the Total Flood Warning System concept: an Australian approach to being prepared for flooding and natural disasters, which helps to keep communities safe.
When not planning for flood events, you can find Jess enjoying time with his wife and three daughters. He has a deep passion for coaching his daughters football team, spending time watching things grow in the garden, and supporting his various sporting teams.
